Our organic coconut blossom sugar is made from the nectar of the coconut blossom bud. When the flower bud of the coconut palm is cut, a sugary nectar is released. This nectar is gently boiled down to a syrup and crystallizes when cooled to a brown sugar with a strong caramel taste - however, the sugar does not taste of coconut. It goes without saying that Ölmühle Solling's coconut blossom sugar comes from sustainable and organic cultivation.
Suitable for diabetics
Coconut blossom sugar is broken down more slowly in the body than other high-glycaemic sweeteners (e.g. cane sugar) and promotes a slower release of energy, which on the one hand provides satiety for longer and on the other hand does not cause sugar highs and lows. This is why coconut blossom sugar is also ideal for diabetics. Of course, just like conventional sugar, coconut blossom sugar should always be used in moderation.
Versatile alternative to industrial sugar
Coconut blossom sugar can be used for numerous purposes: It sweetens breakfast cereals as well as coffee or tea, and is suitable for preparing desserts and dessert sauces. Coconut blossom sugar can be used to refine quark dishes and homemade yoghurts, it can be used for baking and replaces white industrial sugar in cooking. Not only does it sweeten food and drinks, it also gives them a slightly caramelized note. This is why it also goes perfectly with smoothies, homemade iced tea or homemade lemonade. A little coconut blossom sugar sprinkled over the fruit salad emphasizes the taste of the fruit used. It can also be used to spice up salad dressings.
Sustainable for the body and the environment
Another great advantage of coconut blossom sugar: compared to industrial sugar, it is rich in minerals and vitamins - especially B-group vitamins, which are necessary for the production of coenzymes in the human body. And that's not all: the production of coconut blossom sugar is particularly sustainable, as a coconut palm tree "produces" nectar and thus coconut blossom sugar for its entire life. Coconut blossom sugar can only be extracted by hand, which makes it particularly valuable. At Ölmühle Solling, we naturally make sure that fair working conditions prevail on the plantations from which we source coconut blossom sugar and that the plantations are managed organically.
