Our vitamin D oil consists of MCT oil and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). One drop of the food supplement contains 1,000 international units and corresponds to the recommended daily intake. One bottle of 50 ml oil contains around 1,800 drops.
Embedded in MCT oil
Vitamin D is fat-soluble and can be metabolized particularly well when taken with oil. We embed the vegetarian active ingredient in MCT oil from organic coconuts.
The abbreviation MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, or medium-chain fatty acids. MCT oils consist exclusively of these medium-chain fatty acids. As our MCT oil is tasteless and odorless and has a good shelf life, it is ideal as a base for our vitamin D3 oil.
MCT oil is produced by physical means. The natural triglycerides of the coconut oil are separated into medium and long-chain fatty acids by gentle distillation of the free fatty acids at low temperatures. The medium-chain fatty acids enriched in this way are naturally converted into tricglycerides with a lower melting point. Our MCT oil is virtually tasteless and odorless.
The sun vitamin
The simplest and most natural source of vitamin D3 is without doubt the sun. In the summer months, part of the vitamin D3 requirement can be produced by the body itself with the help of UV-B radiation from the sun. However, the individual body's own vitamin D3 production depends heavily on external factors. The supply can vary greatly depending on latitude, time of year and day, weather, length of time spent outdoors, clothing, skin type and the use of sunscreen. Where the body's own production is not sufficient due to sun exposure, supplementation may be an option.
Why do we need vitamin D?
Vitamin D3 is essential for our body. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has already approved the following health claims* in the Health Claims Regulation:
Vitamin D contributes
- to the normal absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus
- contributes to normal blood calcium levels
- contributes to the maintenance of normal bones
- contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function
- contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth
- to the normal function of the immune system
*As part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
One drop of the food supplement contains 1,000 International Units and corresponds to the recommended daily intake. Exact dosing is very easy with the pipette. The recommendations refer to healthy adults. If you are taking medication, you should always consult a doctor before using food supplements. As the individual supply can vary so much, we recommend having the supply checked by means of a vitamin D analysis by your family doctor.
Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet. The recommended daily intake must not be exceeded. Keep out of the reach of small children.
