Ölmühle Solling's virgin sunflower oil is obtained from organically grown and hulled sunflower seeds by gentle cold pressing. In this way, the essential fatty acids, vitamins and secondary plant substances are preserved in their best possible form. The light yellow oil with a mild taste contains mainly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids as well as vitamin E (approx. 48 mg per 100 g). Our organic sunflower oil is vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free and GMO-free.
Due to its mild and pleasant taste, sunflower oil can be used in a variety of ways for cold and hot dishes. Sunflower oil is not suitable for hot frying due to its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids. We recommend using it only for brief steaming.

History and origin
Sunflower oil has been used in North America for several millennia. According to stories, the sunflower plant was brought to Europe by Spanish explorers in the 17th century and has spread rapidly since then. Its seeds have been used to press edible oil since the 19th century. In addition to Europe, the sunflower is mainly cultivated in China, the USA, Russia and Argentina. Sunflower oil is the most widely used vegetable oil in the world after palm, soybean and rapeseed oil.
Oil pulling with sunflower oil
Oil pulling is an alternative Ayurvedic medical method in which the mouth is rinsed with virgin vegetable oils. Oil pulling, also known as oil cure or oil chewing, is used to cleanse the teeth and tongue. It is intended to remove toxins and improve oral hygiene, but also to eliminate bacteria and other pathogens from the oral cavity and thus from the body. Oil pulling is now also becoming increasingly popular in Germany. Many swear by the fact that oil pulling not only contributes to a more pleasant mouthfeel, but also helps them to improve their overall health.
The virgin sunflower oil from Ölmühle Solling is ideal for oil pulling. To do this, two teaspoons of oil are slowly moved back and forth in the mouth for 10 to 20 minutes and pulled through between the teeth once a day. The sunflower oil must then be spat out as it absorbs the toxins from the mouth. At the end of the treatment, the mouth can be rinsed out with water. In addition to sunflower oil, coconut oil, olive oil, sesame oil, black cumin oil and other virgin edible oils are also suitable for oil pulling.
Usage
Sunflower oil shows its versatility in hot and cold dishes. For example, sunflower oil is ideal for making mayonnaise, dips, marinades or remoulade or for briefly steaming. Its mild and nutty flavor can be used to refine salads of all kinds. In addition to its use as cooking oil, sunflower oil is ideal for oil pulling.
For steaming, dressings, dips and marinades.
