Ground psyllium husks

Psyllium husks are the seed husks of the Plantago indica plantain species. The fruit of these plantain species ripens into a capsule containing the small brown seeds. These resemble fleas, which gives the plant the German name "Flohkraut" or "Flohsamen-Wegerich". The Latin translation of Plantago psyllium is "flea". The small seeds are also known as Indian psyllium husks and are mainly cultivated in India as a food and remedy.

Rich in fiber and mucilage

Ground psyllium husks are particularly rich in fiber and mucilage. Dietary fibres are indigestible food components that fulfill many important functions in the body. They remain in the stomach for longer and therefore keep you full for longer. They act as a natural swelling agent and for this reason are often used in naturopathy as a natural support for the digestive organs, as they stimulate intestinal activity. To be able to swell, it is always important to ensure sufficient fluid intake.

Incidentally, ground psyllium husks should not be confused with psyllium seeds. As the ground seeds have a flour-like appearance, they are also known as psyllium flour. Our psyllium husks, on the other hand, are actually just the outer shell of the psyllium seeds. The protein- and fat-rich core has been removed beforehand. This increases the swelling capacity many times over and concentrates the valuable mucilage-forming polysaccharide layer.

Natural food supplement without additives

Psyllium husks for healthy digestion

The ground organic flea seed husks from Ölmühle Solling come from controlled organic cultivation in India. They have an impressive purity of 99%. The fine powder contains no additives and is 100% natural in origin. The psyllium husks are grown and ground in India. Quality control is carried out in German laboratories. The psyllium husk flour is also packaged in Germany.

Enjoy our ground psyllium husks as part of a varied and balanced diet. Flour is a natural product that is subject to natural fluctuations in its composition. The figures given are typical average values.

Usage

Psyllium husks are very suitable as an ingredient in cakes, bread and rolls. They give the dough a good consistency without drying it out. Ground psyllium husks can also be used to prepare smoothies, in muesli or mixed with fruit juices.
