Hemp seeds, hemp flour and hemp oil

Ölmühle Solling's organic hemp flour is obtained from freshly harvested, unhulled hemp seeds by gentle, cold pressing. The average residual oil content is 10-12 g per 100 g. Hemp flour gives dishes of all kinds a pleasant, nutty taste and is also a valuable source of protein and fiber. It also provides around three times as much fiber as whole wheat flour. When baking, around 8-10% of the cereal flour is replaced by hemp flour. Our hemp flour has raw food quality and is 100% vegan. Hemp seeds, from which our hemp flour is made, are naturally gluten-free. However, we cannot technically guarantee that it is 100% gluten-free (<0.5 mg). The flour may contain traces of cereals containing gluten.

The flour should always be kept well sealed and stored in a cool place. In humid conditions it clumps together and can go moldy. Intended for immediate consumption. Tip: Try our mill-fresh cold-pressed hemp oil made from organically grown hemp seeds. It can be enjoyed pure by the spoonful and refines muesli, salads, dips and hot dishes.

Origin and history

Hemp with its distinctive leaves is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world and originally comes from Central Asia and was cultivated in Europe soon after its discovery. The active ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has made hemp famous as a narcotic but also as a medicinal plant. Today, numerous varieties with a low THC content are cultivated, from which valuable foodstuffs are produced. In Europe in particular, there are numerous varieties that are virtually free of THC.

Hemp flour contains valuable hemp oil

The residual content of valuable hemp oil in hemp flour is 12 g per 100 g on average. It has an optimal ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids of 3:1. The content of polyunsaturated fatty acids makes our hemp flour a high-quality and valuable ingredient for health-conscious connoisseurs.

Usage

For the production of fine baked goods, as an addition to muesli, desserts or to refine sauces and ice creams. When baking, around 8-10% of the cereal flour is replaced by hemp flour.

Botanical name: Cannabis sativa L.

Origin
Hemp cultivation has been possible in Germany since the mid-1980s and only with a cultivation permit. Only varieties with a very low THC (tetrahydrocannabiol) content are permitted for cultivation. Apart from Europe, hemp is cultivated in Asia, Africa and North and South America.
For flour production, we prefer hemp seeds from German and Austrian cultivation areas.

Certification
The hemp seeds used for our hemp flour come from certified organic farms in accordance with BIO VO 834/2007 and VO 889/2008.
