Our Chili Seasoning Oil combines fiery chilli peppers with freshly milled, cold-pressed organic rapeseed oil. This valuable oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and preserves the intense heat in its best form.

The oil looks great on the table next to salt and pepper, and with its handy measuring spout it can be used to add just the right amount of flavour to a dish. Is Chili Seasoning Oil really hot? Try it for yourself.

Chili Würzöl Schärfeskala (Scoville)Fiery with 4689 Scoville

The chilli oil from Ölmühle Solling has a heat level of around 4689 Scoville, which is comparable to that of jalapeños. The scientist Wilbur Scoville developed the Scoville unit named after him in 1912 to measure heat. Hotness is determined by the capsaicin content, with pure capsaicin having a Scoville value of 16 million. To determine the capsaicin content, Scoville diluted chilli peppers with sugar water until test subjects could no longer taste the heat. The amount of sugar water required gives the Scoville value. Today, the Scoville value is reliably determined by chemical analysis (high-performance).

Why our chili oil makes you happy

Chili peppers

What seems impossible is scientifically proven. The capsaicin in chilli peppers causes a burning sensation on the tongue, which is countered by the body's release of serotonin and other endorphins. When the pain subsides, what is left? The happy hormones.

Serotonin affects our mood through the central nervous system. It makes us feel calm and satisfied, while inhibiting feelings of fear, sadness and even hunger. Because of these effects, serotonin is even used to treat depression.

Serotonin's positive effect on our mood has earned it the nickname 'the happiness hormone'. Eating chillies releases serotonin in the human body, depending on how hot the chilli is. Compared to chocolate, for example, chillies are a healthy "mood food" that can be used in many dishes.

Other effects of serotonin:

  • Serotonin has an appetite-suppressant effect, which is why it is found in weight-loss drugs.
  • Serotonin promotes the body's alertness, according to the latest findings
  • Serotonin is released as an activator for the pain stimulus in the event of injury.

Other ingredients in chillies

Capsaicin

Capsaicin is the substance in chilli peppers that is responsible for the sensation of heat when eaten. It causes an apparent burning sensation in the body. The body responds by stimulating pain and sweating to regulate temperature. Capsaicin also stimulates blood circulation, which increases the activity of taste receptors, making food taste more intense.

Vitamin C

Chillies contain around 128mg of vitamin C per 100g, a relatively high amount compared to other vegetables. Lemons, for example, contain only about 53 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. Vitamin C is an important part of a healthy diet because, among other things, it acts as an antioxidant to neutralise free radicals in the blood and body cells.

In addition to vitamin C, chillies also contain vitamins A, B1, B2, B3 and E, as well as iron and calcium.

Würde ich nicht weiterempfehlen. Ich erwartete das Chiliöl mit Olivenöl und nicht Rapsöl. Zudem mit Chilischoten (Körner) n der Flasche.
