The hearty pesto goes well with wholemeal pasta with tomatoes

A hearty, spicy pesto with cherry tomatoes, Parmesan cheese and cashew nuts, finely rounded off with Italian spices and our own Mediterranean and chili seasoning oil.
Pesto is ideal when you need to get things done quickly in the kitchen: Simply mix it with freshly cooked, hot pasta as desired, perhaps grate some Parmesan over it and you're done.

However, the Italian kitchen classic pesto, in its many delicious variations, has nothing to do with fast food: The name is derived from the Italian "pestare", meaning "to mash", and refers to an uncooked sauce made from finely grated/ground/mashed ingredients such as nuts, cheese, herbs, spices and oil. Even in ancient Rome, there are said to have been forerunners of today's pesto, as the correct Italian plural is.

Incidentally, in addition to its classic function as a pasta sauce, pesto is also great on pizza, sandwiches, baguettes and in salads and stir-fries.

Simply mix with freshly cooked, hot pasta as desired, perhaps grate a little Parmesan over the top and you're done.
