Organic ashwagandha powder is obtained from the gently dried roots of the ashwagandha plant. The bush-like plant is also known as sleeping berry, Sanskrit ashwagandha, winter cherry or Indian ginseng. Ashwagandha has been known as a medicinal plant for thousands of years and is popular for its many uses and effects for medical purposes. The plant is particularly valued in Ayurvedic medicine, the traditional Indian art of healing. There it is used as a natural remedy, especially for sleep disorders and stress.
By the way: Ashwagandha literally means "smell of the horse". In Germany, the spelling ashwaganda is also common. The powder from the ashwagandha root tastes slightly bitter and combines well with sweet fruit juices.

The ashwagandha plant
The ashwagandha plant grows primarily in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe and has been used there as a remedy for thousands of years. We source our organic ashwagandha powder from organic farmers in India who practise controlled organic farming on site.
The ashwagandha plant can grow to a height of 150 cm under the right climatic conditions. It bears berries and forms roots that look confusingly similar to small sticks of wood.
Ashwagandha in powder form
The benefits of ashwagandha in powder form are manifold. The powder is 100 % natural and free from any additives. Unlike capsules, the effect is immediate. In addition, capsules are often not suitable for a vegan lifestyle as they often contain gelatine. As a powder, ashwagandha is also easy to dose (one teaspoon corresponds to around 5 grams).
We recommend not exceeding a daily intake of 5 grams of organic ashwagandha powder with sufficient liquid. The powder can be stirred into water, smoothies, juices or tea. Pregnant women and nursing mothers should not consume the powder, or only after consulting a doctor.
